[Lyrics] Man in front of the Mirror

Composed by: Yonghwa, RYO
Lyrics: Yonghwa
Arranged by: youwhich

One day, He looked in the mirror
He was stewed up with anxiety
One night, He looked at the city in the dead of the night
He found out
Every morning, Every night, “hurry hurry up”
Every morning, Every night, “keep the calm”

At some time
We dream of street lights
We dream of hot nights
Hey listen, guys, look in the mirror
We have to slow down
Because, we have enough time
Look in the mirror and laugh out loud for yourself

One day, she looked in the mirror
She had a faint smile on her lips.
Every morning, Every night, “hurry hurry up”
Every morning, Every night, “keep the calm”

At some time
We dream of street lights
We dream of hot nights
Hey listen, guys, look in the mirror
We have to slow down
Because, we have enough time
Look in the mirror and laugh out loud for yourself

Everyone wants a beautiful smile
Everyone wants the sweetest holiday
Please
Take your time, relax your mind

Today he look in the mirror
He has a big smile on the face
Every morning, every one, smile and smile
Every morning, every one, feel the love

We dream of street lights
We dream of hot nights
Hey listen, guys, look in the mirror
We have to slow down
Because we have enough time
Look in the mirror and laugh out loud for yourself

We dream of street lights
We dream of hot nights
Hey listen, guys, look in the mirror
We have to slow down
Because, we have enough time
Look in the mirror and laugh out loud for yourself

Many thanks to @cnblue0203 who shares the lyrics book scan and allows me to type the lyrics for others. Here’s the scan. She posted the other two new songs’ lyrics pages too. But I can’t type Japanese and I am biased, particularly emotional when it comes to Yonghwa, or whatever you like calling me. I just need to post the lyrics of “Man in front of the Mirror” NOW.

A little sad? What exactly did he feel writing those words? When did he write those words? I can’t help imagining. But in the end, he says he sees himself smiling? A big smile.

I can imagine couple fans making a big fuzz about the ‘she’ in this. When I say couple fans, I don’t just mean YongSeo fans, you know there are ShinHwa fans too. And maybe some new camp next year if he will do another show or whatever. He’s an emotional guy, a romantic one too. He has his old love stories or he may be in love now. The ‘she’ can be real or imaginary and I really couldn’t care less who’s in his mind either. Can we focus more on his talent of all sorts? Here’s some poetic words, English-not-that-perfect words, which really touch the deepest part of my heart. Can’t wait for my copy of 392 to arrive from HMV!!!

And some good news already. 392 is no.1 on Tower Records daily online sales chart. 2010.08.30

  1. Like always, you are the true fans of him! huhu. I am so biased he being with seohyun that I never can open up my heart to any other girl before. But because of your post and all your love for him, Now I try my hardest best to understand him better! thanks Klaritia for this lyric. I hope he being well and healthy forever .

  2. Thanks for the lyrics! Am listening to the song as I type and kudos to our boy for experimenting with a new sound again. I’m loving the beat, and the overall tone of the song… starts out chill but slowly builds up….

I don’t think the use of ‘he’ or ‘she’ in the lyrics refers to anyone in particular (I shudder to think of the shipping wars that will ensue), but is used to personalize a more generic message that is being sent to all of us – to remind us (and maybe himself) to slow down in the midst of the stress of our daily lives and learn to laugh out loud to ourselves. My heart bleeds because as fans, we see how crazy and stressful his life is, but my heart swells with pride that he is not only able to overcome it but write a song about it.

Our fandom is not in vain because our boy is surely deserving of it.

  3. I got the *laugh out loud* part correct? Woooot?o_O

I honestly think FnC needs some natives to help out with English songs and pronunciation. I still like how broken Yonghwa’s English is though.

Will be back later about the lyrics and its meaning. Gotta go now.

    Cheers.

    • I second with you. I would just happy to hear his voice. But for many people out there who are new to CNBlue, they might have prejudice against them for their pronunciations.

Yonghwa is very good at imitate the pronunciation when he covers English songs like ‘Geek in the pink’, ‘Lucky’, ‘Always’ and many others. But when it comes to English lyrics he wrote himself, I would have trouble understanding him.

    • I think the problem is that not a single person within the company realize the importance of using English ‘accurately enough’. Just read the official facebook messages, or the English version of some official site notice. Not very understandable English indeed.

As for Yonghwa, he just needs to live in the States and be surrounded by native speakers when CNBLUE will go conquer the States one day. He’ll speak like a native in no time. You know how he learned English? He didn’t even go to English classes. He just listened to English songs and watched foreign movies. We appreciate his effort because we love him and understand what he has and what he hasn’t. I do want somebody help the boys on this matter; I can’t stand people laughing at their English!

    • I have the same thought with Looby that we, international fans, should do something about it, write to them, do petition, just anything so they can realize what they’re missing on. I don’t think English is the most important language in the world and that everyone has to fluent it, but we can’t deny the fact that it’s one important channel to reach out to a wider audience. *sigh*.

It’s not just FnC, I see many other huge labels doing the exact same thing, ignoring international fans. T___T. SM for one, despite they have so many English speaking members.

      I don’t know.

      • Write to whom? FnC?
They haven’t replied to any emails by me, not to any fans as far as I know. Except it’s about payment for official Boice membership!

      • so you wrote to them? hats off to you, klaritia.

if not to FnC, then to our boys? now that’s wishful thinking. I really hope someday they, or Yonghwa, stumble across our blog, YOUR blog, and see our desperate concern for them. *fingers crossed*

        *sigh*

  4. Finally the lyrics..and as always, Yonghwa’s songs always have such a beautiful, touching lyrics..I cannot help being a little sad reading the full lyrics. How stressfull their life must be these couple years, however in the end Our Yong able to put some positivity into the song..
“every morning, every one, smile and smile
“every morning every one, feel the love..”
And is it just me, but I can’t seem to see Yonghwa’s face clearly in the 392 scans pic.. I am able to note the words on his shirt, though..”your judgement day has come”😀

  5. Okay! I remember when I first commented on this song I was talking about it seeing it as a rather emotionally “sad” song cause of the meaning it holds (from the teaser we heard). I was thinking of how tired he and the boys must have been and just them wanting to slow down and enjoying the accomplishments they had attained. Anyway hearing the whole song….it could have been a sad and somewhat like a cry for help kind of song but I feel that he was giving a positive spin to it. Cause it’s an upbeat song it has that feeling of though you feel anxious and weighed down by daily life everything will be okay. That you don’t have to be always so serious about life…It’s okay to take a break or a holiday and just enjoy yourself. It’s okay to laugh and it’s okay to enjoy life. After hearing the song once I was already smiling and feeling happy. I actually can see myself bopping my head and singing along while driving on a country road on the way to visit my relatives in the provinces. It feels like it’s a song that you would relax with as you drive out of the city. When you listen to it you will find yourself bopping your head and tapping your fingers on the steering wheel and just rolling down your car window and letting the country air caress your face and it’s just such a feel good song. I live the flow from the refrain to the chorus. I ADMIT I AM A BIAS FAN BUT THIS IS BECOMING A FAVORITE SONG OF MINE TOO. I am just loving it. YONG YONG YOU ARE DAEBAK!!!!

  6. Love the song, love YH’s voice, love the harmomization between YH and JH during the middle part of the song. Love the drum beats. Is it just me or does the music this time focus on the drums? I don’t know but the drums beats keeps getting my attention. Good for MH🙂

Love the lyrics too. I think it’s YH’s message to himself and fellow artists to slow down and not push themselves too hard. Like anne, this is becoming a favourite song of mine too. I feel very proud of YH🙂

  7. I like the lyrics very much! Yonghwa has many sweet love songs already. It’s time to have songs that reflects on themselves. Glad that I see a level-headed leader here.

I like the ‘She’ in the lyrics because the song can be generalized to everyone of us. To pause the busy life and look at ourselves.

  8. I just read a fan account of the Yokohama Arena live. After they performed this, JS revealed that YH wrote the song during Heartstrings filming!!! They boy really didn’t sleep. I don’t care if people say the music isn’t good enough. Music is his life in the way that he explains his life in his music. Very impressed.
