Yonghwa, scary or gentle?

The boys are on TBS Live B♪. The interview is short but cute. (Thanks to xaski @ weibo for translations.) MC asks if they ever quarrel having lived together for so many years (Jonghyun says 5 years). Jonghyun says Yonghwa is scary. But Minhyuk disagrees, saying Yonghwa isn’t scary but very gentle. Then Yonghwa gives Minhyuk a pat and they shake hands. 🙂

Made some HD caps too.

2 random CNBLUE gifs + 2 random CNBLUE vids

You know I love to play cool making up random post titles that may have annoyed you to no end all this time. The things I’m gonna say are so unconnected that I don’t have a clue.

Falling (@unexpectedF) watched a video when the boys were interviewed after receiving the Golden Disk Award, she asked us to notice how sweet Minhyuk was. Yonghwa was holding the mic and award at the same time. Minhyuk just took the award from Yonghwa to make him feel more at ease saying the message to fans all over the world (as requested by the MC). So I helped Falling illustrate her point better making the gif.

You know many CNBLUE fans like “shipping” Yonghwa and Jonghyun … I used to make lots of JongHwa gifs too. I totally like to ship YongMin these days. Watch that Ontama video shared by @cn_bana7? Yonghwa was imitating B’z Koshi Inaba’s singing. Of course he’s good and Jonghyun was funny playing along. But see who’s the biggest fan of Yonghwa’s “talent”?

But this isn’t a post about bromance. I mean I have lots of fun watching CNBLUE videos. Though I gotta wait for English or Chinese subs/translations, having no clue about what they’re saying, I pay attention to the minor things, the funny things …

I’d like to thank all the fans who share the CNBLUE/Yonghwa videos. Sorry that I forget to or can’t thank you direct sometimes.

Recorded these GDA related vids from the official site. Screen recording isn’t the best solution but I just couldn’t rip the videos. In case you like keeping them.

Hail to the poet – Jung Yong Hwa

I said Yonghwa’s English lyrics in ‘feeling’ aren’t awesome. Give me a fork, am gonna eat my words! Check out the exact lyrics as in the lyrics sheet. Did you join heich’s fun exercise deciphering the lyrics hearing the audio? I was so wrong about Yonghwa needing preposition lessons. It’s just my messed-up ears (or partly due to Yonghwa’s less-than-perfect pronunciation).

A teardrop in my face, beads of sweat in my face
That is the paradise

“beads of sweat” is just BEAUTIFUL!

I am confused, I’m at a nonplus
I am in tears, And tear me down

I haven’t even come across the word “nonplus”, not to mention know it. I checked the Merriam online dictionary for the meaning and read people saying Obama misused the word (I never pay attention to him), D.H. Lawrence used it in Women In Love (but the only D.H. Lawrence book I’ve read is Sons and Lovers), and Harry Potter was nonplussed… (Harry Potter and the Chambers of Secrets, but I read that book!) … Anyways, those two lines in the song are so poetic!

And then there’s this line in “Where you are” that we weren’t sure before. It should be

Somewhere Lady Luck will smile at me. Yeah-

Brilliant!

One can still find “flaws” in the lyrics. I won’t say they’re perfect either. I mean I underestimated Yonghwa and I feel so sorry. This boy is deep. Do you know he wrote “feeling” during the Hearstrings filming period? “Man in front of the Mirror” and “Mr. KIA” were written around that time as well. How he did it?

Yonghwa. My hero.

PS The post title is inspired by heich’s tweet //all hail yonghwa//

PPS I saw tweets jokingly say “nonplus” may become a twitter trend, “nonplus” is a trendy vocab … *laughs & grins*

2012.01.25 Korean International Style Show ~ CNBLUE news pics

Press conference and performance

31 pics zipped Edited 2012.01.28. Turns out I collected 68 pics. View as slideshow –> http://min.us/mperhNzZt or download all as zip (look for clickable link somewhere near lower right hand corner of webpage).

The show will be on FujiTV Next 3/2 22:00 (thanks to @ughlc for the info). I heard the boys rocked the venue. Saw a few seconds of those moments on youtube too.

Yonghwa. awesome.

They say people are abusing the word “awesome”. I even saw facebook groups on that. But I couldn’t care less. Yonghwa is awesome. Have you listened to “feeling” yet? Figuring out some of the lyrics still caused us fans headache but it’s some amusing mission to me. Check out the transcribed lyrics by heich and maybe you like joining the discussion too. I’ve to admit that Yonghwa’s lyrics are not exactly awesome when it comes to grammar and use of words. Maybe we can understand more hearing what he says in interviews about the message he wants to convey through the song. And how the other boys talk about the song too.

Reporter: “Feeling” is Yonghwa’s song. There’s this “floating” feel in the music, a very upbeat song.
YH: The music should give a very romantic feeling. The lyrics are very optimistic too. When one’s working hard, even the sweats are beautiful. Crying is also a beautiful thing, so I thought. I need to sing with a very tender voice, to give this imaginative and dreamy feel.”
(From “What’s In”, my translation based on Chinese translation by 章鱼烧 @ baidu CNBLUE bar)

Reporter: The third song “feeling”. What genre is it?
Yonghwa: Because humans are so full of feelings, even seeing the fallen leaves in autumn gives the feeling of wanting to cry. Though we always have negative feelings, not all of them are bad. If we can change our thoughts, we can come with a positive perspective. This is what this song is all about. Romantic music with very positive lyrics. This is the first time I write music with just the piano. I had no idea if such a song can be good for live performance. I just wrote it anyway.
Minhyuk: When I first heard the piano part, I was touched, thinking “it’s such a great song”. In this coming new single, my favorite is the piano part of this song.
Jungshin: I really think this is a great song. And what finally came out is slightly different from the demo version, but just being better. All in all, this song is drastically different from the ones we’ve made so far.
(From “Songs”, my translation based on Chinese translation by 青瓜 @ baidu LeeJongHyun bar)

But you won’t disagree if I say the music is AWESOME? Another original creation. Beautiful music from a beautiful boy. His almost whispering voice! Now I see what the reporter meant by “floating feel”, though I’m not sure if I translated it right…

With Jonghyun who writes great music too, and Jungshin and Minhyuk have great interesst on music and lyrics composition, plus the fact that all four boys have become so comfortable showing their real rocker selves at recent performances … Not an exaggeration to say: “CNBLUE. A phenomenon.

(Yonghwa @ 2012.01.25 Korean International Style Show performance, photo fr mdpr.jp)

When I say CNBLUE is a phenomenon, I mean the following. These boys learn by doing, not by having lessons. Read what they say about learning Japanese? “Through interviews.” Though I keep saying Yonghwa needs English lessons, he’s learning by writing English lyrics. Think he knows he’s not good enough. Maybe someone has actually told him. Guess he replies and says to himself: “I’ll work harder.”

PS Watching CNBLUE is an adventure.

In my heart
It’s said that if one can get the piece of beautiful jade from the dragon’s hand, one’s dream will come true. Tonight, I’ll still wait for the dragon to appear in the night sky! But isn’t that piece of jade always in everyone’s heart? … I really think so. Therefore I’m always looking at my own heart, wishing my dream come true.

2012.01.11 & 12 GDA CNBLUE msn vids

I heard the shows will be on TV on the 18th and 19th. I had a blast watching the msn vids. Just in case you have a hard time streaming or wanna watch a few (or many!) times before some kind souls share the TV recordings later, download the vids I recorded.

MF folder. Sorry that the file names aren’t that informational and may be confusing. Speed is more important here? And can’t spend too much time on CNBLUE today. I do hope these will become useless soon when full HD vids are everywhere.

Isn’t the second day’s performance awesomely awesome? It’s like they’re having their own concert. Sorry if I complain too much; the camera shouldn’t have zoomed out too often (to show what a grand stage and venue it is?).

Tweeted these gifs earlier. “Yonghwa” spells S.E.X.Y. now!

Edit . . .

My Mediafire account was deleted. I happened to click the streaming links again today and managed to download the streams. Uploaded them again for I looooove the performances 😀

Happy second anniversary, CNBLUE!

Jan 14, 2010, the day CNBLUE held their Korean debut showcase. To me, it’s one of the most unforgettable days as a CNBLUE fan. Don’t want to talk about history too often like a long-winded grandma, but you may want to read my post last year if you haven’t. For good memories, watch a news video of their “I’m a loner” performance.

And look at some news pics of the boys. Fresh faces. Happy faces. I didn’t imagine they will grow into such great rockers in just two years.

Don’t think I need to say how awesome CNBLUE are. Their winning four Golden Disk Awards say something I guess, though awards don’t mean everything. I feel so lucky that I’ve followed them since their debut. It’s just damn luck that I did, not that I have the eyes or the ears. I don’t live in Korea nor Japan and I don’t know Korean nor Japanese. My heartfelt gratitude to generous fans who share TV recordings/audios/fancams/fanpics, fans who spend time translating long interview articles or just tidbits, fans who can’t stop talking about them … Somehow I feel happier in the second year of this fandom. I think it has lots to do with the new online friends that I’ve gained. You know I’m talking about you, you, you, you, you … ! But I totally treasure the couple of more-than-two-year fan friends. (Edit. I treasure all my fan friends, 1.5 yr ones and each and everyone in between. XD) “That’s what it means to a fan; you don’t walk alone.”

Thank you CNBLUE for your music.

Thank you CNBLUE for living your dreams.

Thank you CNBLUE fans all over the world, for loving CNBLUE as who they are.

Bluestorm sweeping through Hong Kong ~ CNBLUE, members have their different ways

Popular Korean band CNBLUE, comprised of leader Jung Yonghwa, guitarist Lee Jonghyun, drummer Kang Minhyuk and bassist Lee Jungshin, came to Hong Kong last week. It’s their third time visiting. The much anticipated “CNBLUE 2012 Asia Tour Bluestorm in Hong Kong” concerts were held from Jan 7 for two consecutive nights, rocking the venue of Asia-World Expo! Boice who’ve seen their idols so close after this must have discovered that though they’re a band, each member is doing things his own way! Don’t misunderstand, I mean they have different roles on stage and are responsible for different things. It’s like they are so different from each other. But after this interview, I realize they talk the same, have the same thoughts about music, and even their personalities are made for each other!

Non-stop inspiration, new single next month
Not counting their indie days, CNBLUE have a short history of just two years. But they’ve charmed music fans from all over the world with their music. With the release of the first major Japanese single In My Head, their popularity rises even more in Asia. “CNBLUE Bluestorm Asia Tour 2012” has just begun. Though they’ve been busy with concerts, they’ve never stopped making their own music. They’ll release the 2nd Japanese single Where You Are on the first of next month. The single contains three brand new songs, the title “Where you are”, “Get Away” and “Feeling”. It just shows CNBLUE won’t forget the Japanese fans even when they’re busy with overseas concerts. They can come up with new songs so soon. How do they get all these inspirations? Yonghwa: “Actually we won’t look for inspirations. Whenever we think of some melodies, we write them down. With time, they’ll become a song.” Jungshin: “Yes. One totally needs to catch the feelings right away and ‘record’ the exact emotions felt.”

Fallen for Hong Kong because of the enthusiastic fans
Though it’s the first time CNBLUE holding a full concert in Hong Kong, they have had this good impression on Hong Kong since long ago. Jonghyun. “Whether it’s when we first came for the fans meeting, or the second time for the K-Pop concert, we saw a lot of Hong Kong fans supporting us. When we were preparing for this concert, we were so happy to hear that the tickets were sold out very fast. We’re so grateful to the Hong Kong fans. We’ll return your goodwill with our best music in the future.” Hong Kong fans are lovely, that’s what the leader agrees with too. He came alone earlier to film the variety show “Running Man”. Yonghwa: “Last time when I came for ‘Running Man’ filming, I was so surprised to see so many fans cheering for me. They showed so much support for the show. When I was playing games in the streets, they helped me a lot to complete the missions. It’s like I was playing with them too. I was so happy.” Wow, Hong Kong boice must be happy hearing their idol praising them.

Work is hard, fighting for rests
CNBLUE are so busy with concerts and album releases, and individual members have other different works too. Do they feel tired? Jonghyun: “We aren’t afraid of hard work. We actually think we should work even harder, so that we can have the best results for everything.” Yonghwa: “I don’t remember when I have felt tired.” Though they claim they aren’t afraid of the busy work schedules, as they become more popular, they have actually felt some pressure. That’s why all of them treasure the rare times when they can rest, so as to release the stress. CNBLUE: “When we feel stressed, we may go to sleep, eat something, or exercise listening to music.” The right amount of stress can be the force pushing the band to move forward. As their ways of stress release are so healthy, Boice can feel relieved!

When it isn’t about music, each has his own way
The four boys have such tight bond collaborating on stage and their goals on music creation are the same, but they have different thoughts on things too. Like when asked what they’d like to do if they don’t have to work, they have completely different answers. Jungshin: “I want to try out different things about music composition, so I’ll spend more time learning all things about music.” Jonghyun: “I want to learn different languages. We’re not bad in Japanese, so I’d like to improve on English.” Hearing his two bandmates talking about learning things, drummer Minhyuk tells his eagerness to learn too. Minhyuk: “I’d learn how to improve my drum skills.” Yonghwa seems so quiet when they are talking. It happens he has totally different thoughts. Yonghwa: “I don’t have plans for learning anything. I actually want to have time for overseas vacations. I particularly want to go to Europe.” Fans should know Yonghwa is the busiest among the members. He was busy filming a drama earlier and he took part in “Running Man” too not long after that. It seems natural that he wants a vacation to relax himself.
